Admission Scholarship & Financial Aid

(Admission “scholarships” for undergraduate students; Admission “financial aid” for master’s and Ph.D. students)

• FCU offers four types of scholarships or financial aid (NT$ 120,000, NT$ 60,000, NT$ 30,000, and NT$ 20,000) for the first academic year (disbursed at the beginning of each semester; expected to be issued in November for the Fall semester and in April for the Spring semester; an ARC number is required)
• International students who are recipients of Taiwan government scholarships are not eligible for this scholarship/financial aid.
• Recipients must complete registration, tuition payment, and course enrollment for the current academic year to receive the scholarship/financial aid. (Note: The award cannot be directly deducted from tuition fees.)
• In accordance with the Guidelines of Feng Chia University Part-time job wages and Financial Aids, Office of Student Affairs shall assign students to appropriate on-campus units for service.

Scholarship Example

• If you are awarded an admission scholarship of NT$60,000 in total, you will receive NT$30,000 in the Fall semester and NT$30,000 in the Spring semester.

Financial Aid Example

• In accordance with the Guidelines of Feng Chia University Part-time job wages and Financial Aids, Office of Student Affairs shall assign students to appropriate on-campus units for service.
• Disbursement Limit: Each payment will not exceed NT$25,000 to remain within the basic wage limit and avoid triggering Second-Generation National Health Insurance (NHI) supplementary premiums.
• Installment Example: A total grant of NT$60,000 will be disbursed in three installments: NT$25,000, NT$25,000, and NT$10,000.
• Tax Withholding: In accordance with National Taxation Bureau regulations, income tax for foreign nationals will be withheld at source at a rate of 6%.

           Net Amount Example: NT$25,000 × (1 – 6%) = NT$23,500 (actual net amount transferred).

The second academic year (No applictaion requried)

Minimum awarded criteria for the continuation of financial aid after the second academic year are as follows:

• International students who enroll in undergraduate programs shall have earned an average score of seventy or higher in courses during the previous academic year or a ranking in the top fifty percent of their class. International students who enroll in master’s or doctoral degree programs shall have earned an average score of eighty or higher in courses during the previous academic year.

• For the minimum awarded criteria for the continuation of financial aid shall be issued the continuation of financial aid upon the completion of registration, payment of full tuition and miscellaneous fees, and course selection for the academic year following the approval by the scholarship application review committee.
